File Your Story for IBC Citizen TV

2006 sees IBC’s first venture into citizen journalism. This is your chance to contribute your stories on what’s hot and what’s not at IBC2006. Here’s how it works.

Attendees can use their mobile phone to record a video story on any aspect of IBC and send it to the show. Your contributions will be posted at www.ibccitizen.tv throughout each day, every day of the show and can be accessed by mobile phone as well as the internet.

To ensure a variety of contributions, IBC Citizen TV has distributed Nokia N93 smartphones to a mixture of contributors from students to delegates. Their goal is to seek out and record stories ranging from the serious and interesting to the humorous and quirky.

Their stories – and yours – are sent to the IBC Citizen TV base using the Forbidden Technologies FORscene editing system. With Forbidden’s mobile player and compression technology, the IBC news team simply edit daily video coverage using the FORscene platform, which automatically formats and compresses the video into mobile-size clips.

From here the clips will be posted for the world to see. The production team has worked with the web design team to produce a website that is easy to navigate and includes a top 10 most viewed search as well as the top 10 show themes.

Taking part is fairly simple. First go to www.ibccitizen.tv and download the Forbidden FORscene player to your smartphone. Follow the directions on the site to enter the username and password. Then attach the video and send it. The cost will depend on your service provider.

Alternatively, you can go to the Forbidden Technologies stand – 2.110 – where the staff will help you submit your clip via Bluetooth, avoiding call charges,

No video on your mobile phone? We also have a diary room where you can make your point. You will find it next to the IBC TV News production base, in the lower passage between the Europa and Holland complexes.

Remember, this is your event and IBC wants to hear from you. There is a bottle of champagne for the best clip.
